BE Happy Siem Reap  LOVES Living Walls

At BE Happy Siem Reap We LOVE our Plants!

Scientific Research has proved that plants help make us happier and healthier.

When designing our hotels we always always try to embrace this by ensuring our staff and customers are always close to nature. So when one of our ex-pat friends suggested he had a new way of bringing plants closer to our customers by growing them on vertical surfaces we just had to give it ago!

John (or as we like to call him “The Plant Guy”) worked closely with our in-house team and together they have installed several Living Wall features at our location.

Our new reception area at BE Happy Siem Reap features a 2m x 1m Living Wall which welcomes our guests and provides a beautiful way to capture your vacation with us by taking a “Selfie”.

What we LOVE about this Living Wall is that the fabric used to support the plants vertically is made out of up-cyled plastic water bottles. (This wall has taken 108 1.5L Water Bottles out of Landfills 🙂 The Felt pockets that support the Plants vertically can also “Breathe” keeping the roots happy and a waterproof membrane sown into the felt also keeps our walls dry 🙂

All the plants were sourced locally to support our community of nurseries around Siem Reap.

Gardening Vertically has so many useful applications. Apart from turning plants into Living Works of Art it also helps conserve energy, reduce noise and decrease air impurities. Oh and you can also grow Vegetables this way as well. Ideal for School Gardening !
